India's Holi Festival
Monday, April 01, 2013I had one of the must have experiences yesterday! Our Indian neighbors invited us to the Holi Festival which is an annual celebration that they do to welcome Spring. First, they gather to eat some great food, and then the water guns come in action! People from all ages, running around, having fun in the water. Around 2:30 in the afternoon, two guys came out with two big boxes and the colorful mess began. They started throwing up in the air little plastic bags with different color powders and everyone started running like crazy and having a rainbow fight!
Random people would come to me and say Happy Holi while smearing some powder on my face! Even though it was crazy, it was so so nice. I did not see anyone getting angry because they did not get a bag of powders. Everyone was sharing them and having a really pure good time. It was a refreshing experience and I got to share it with my friend Deb who was a little hesitant at first but then she got into it as you can see in the picture. We are definitely going next year!!
I remember the first time I saw this, was in the movie called Outscourced and I fell in love with it.
The movie is really good too so I highly recommend it!
This weekend was magical as we also celebrated our 10 years anniversary! I am feeling so blessed at the moment and all I can say is thank you, thank you God.
